New PSO, SA2 Details

SegaWeb posted up a detailed rundown of what happened during this past weekend’s Sonic Team event, and you can read that here. But, here are the things you need to know:

• New footage of SA2 was shown, and it appears a new character will be in the game; this character seems to mimic Knuckles’s skills. It’s possible that like Sonic’s evil counterpart Dark Sonic, there is also a Dark Knuckles as well. A robot character that resembles and mimics the abilities of E-102 Gamma was shown as well.
• After the SA2 footage, the PSO demo, and it looks like the game’s menus will play a surprisingly critical role in gameplay.
• The ability to customize also seems to be largely present in PSO.
• To quote SegaWeb: “Rare items will exist in the game, and from what the producers said, they are worth the time it takes to find them. Items are character class-specific, and already dual sabers for the Hunters and Ring Lasers for the Rangers have been confirmed.”
• PSO will have date specific downloads online, much like how SA had such special downloads available.
• And, we have some release dates…North America will see PSO January 23rd, with Europe’s release a month after.
