More PSO Character Details
Thanks to IGN Dreamcast, we know a little bit about the protagonists and the antagonists of PSO:
There are nine main characters in Phantasy Star Online, divided, as previously mentioned, into three classes: Hunters, Rangers and Force. Each character is classified directly in their name, with it being prefixed by HU, RA or FO.
HUmar, HUnewearl and HUcast are the hunters. Their skill is in fighting or, more specifically, close-range combat. These are your sword-wielding, dagger-stabbing, fist-fighting badasses here.
The rangers (RA) are the long-range attackers. As seen in their pictures, they will utilize rifles and other weapons capable of attacking from a distance. The three rangers in Phantasy Star Online are RAmar, RAcast and RAcaseal.
Last but not least are the force (FO) members of the cast. FOmarl, FOnewm and FOnewearl are the ones capable of magic attacks in PSO. Sonic Team has put up some shots showcasing these effects, which we have posted below.
It is unknown how these characters tie into the story of PSO. With the game also featuring a character creation system, one must wonder if these nine cast members get involved with people you create or if they are nine characters in a story of their own.
Sonic Team decided to also post some of the enemies from the first world of Phantasy Star Online. After all, suckas gotta know just what our HUs, RAs and FOs will be going after. The six enemies that have been classified thus far are Buuma, Lag Lappy, Mosmant, Mosnet, Savage Wolf and Hildebear.
Also today, we know that the Sonic Team has completed the translation system that helps gamers communicate with others online. That means if you have a Japanese gamer in your party, you can send them a basic term used in the system, the Japanese gamer will understand it, and the same can occur between that gamer and yourself.
Finally, we’ve learned that a Sonic Team PSO VMU unit, limited edition, and 4 megs, is available. PSO characters are featured on the unit, but it’s only sold in Japan for now.
