Merchandise Fails: Sonic Fishing Game

I swear this has image been sitting on my Desktop for over three years now. If I remember the story correctly T-Bird’s dad bought this rather bonkers item he saw in a shop. It appears to feature Sonic wearing Geordi La Forge’s visor and doing some fishing having apparently just killed some terrible creature half-crab and half-orange.

I… don’t get it.

What has Sonic actually to do with this game?

Is this where Big The Cat’s fishing idea comes from?
