Ken Penders Reveals Revamped Lien-Da
Ken Penders continues to make plans for The Lara-Su Chronicles, a planned series based on characters he created while on board the Sonic series, Archie Comics–even though a trial that will ultimately determine who owns the rights to those and other characters is only a few weeks away.
On Tuesday, Penders released character artwork on his website for Lien-Da, another familiar character planned for the Chronicles series.
In addition, Penders announced plans to release the Chronicles graphic novels both in print and digitally, dubbing them the 20th and 21st Century editions, respectively:
What makes the digital release different from most digital downloads is that not only is the art being produced for multi-purpose use, to allow for the limited use of animation in non-iPad/iPhone formats (since they don’t allow for the use of Flash technology), but I’m currently exploring adding features such as an audio track and bi-lingual word balloons, making the story immediately accessible to readers in either English or Spanish.
Penders also hinted he may be seeking help from Hollywood sources to fill those voice acting slots.
If you’re wondering where things stand in the courts, public records show Archie is currently moving to block the admission of several new defense exhibits and witness testimony on account of them not being part of the discovery phase. Penders’s counsel has filed an opposition to the motion. Nothing’s been decided yet. Also worth noting: As far as we can tell, Archie has not yet filed for a preliminary injunction prohibiting Penders from pursuing or promoting this planned project–or the characters expected to be in them.
