I love the way Jennifer Hernandez draws Amy Rose, and other characters I hope she becomes a regular, and correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t Red Star Rings are bonus content you find in the games.
Okay FUCK what I said before, I miss the quips & witty banter!
Aleah Baker sure as hell knows how to write these characters, but it’s hard to get attached to them if all they say is exposition.
So far this arch is making feel like I’m watching Criminal Minds. If your gonna make Sally have conversation with Big that tells the reader something about Sally then MAKE IT FUNNY!
that aside drama in this issue was top-notch! favorite part:

“If your gonna make Sally have a conversation with Big”
LOL at Blaze and Omega shipping, I remember that time Omega felt impressed by Blaze’s destructive power.
Also in the same arc I remember some hints at a possible Shadow and Blaze shipping, wonder if that will ever happen in the comics…
I believe Omega’s comment at the time was “I like you. Let’s burn things together.” 😀
Yeah, that was hilarious!! I wonder, if Blaze started dating Shadow would Omega be jealous? Would Rouge? 😛
lolol poor Big
Sweet jesus it’s nothing exposition.
How is this supposed to convince me to by this comic if I see nothing but information transactions between the characters….about freaking Red Rings of all things.
I’ll stick to The Seven Deadly Sins thank you very much.
Ironically the previous issue preview was very action packed, I think that’s the only problem; the previews only show the begining of the comic but not every Sonic comic begins in the middle of the action, still I’m loving these comics right now, I would recommend them.
Oh Please… The comic has no originality left. Every current arc as of now, is based off one of the games, and that screams lazy. The comic’s were somewhat better Pre-Genesis wave cause at the very least the story arcs weren’t based off mediocre games.
The current arcs are based off on games but don’t use their story in its entirely, actually most of them take those plots as a base and develop better stories from them, like the World Shattered Crisis which story is not the same and actually better than Sonic Unleashed’s story, or like Shadow Fall that is way better than Shadow the hedgehog.
Also in my personal opinion I like the fact that the comics are more connected to the games mythos now, of course I didn’t like that all the previous stories in the comic had to be scrapped with the reboot but that was because of legal issues, it was inevitable and now the comics mythos has to start all over again, it’s a shame but I like where the’re heading and I’m on board.
“Every current arc as of now, is based off one of the games, and that screams lazy.”
…
…really?
what game is THIS arch based on?
while your at it, try to name one arch of SU or STH since the reboot that’s based on the storyline of a sonic game, and doesn’t just only use it’s characters & concepts
…well, aside from the obvious ones based on Sonic Unleashed and Sonic the Fighters
Because for some reason I can’t directly reply to both Raw and hypts I’ll have to respond to you both on here.
Hypts:
Well let’s see here, the first two Sonic Universe Arcs post Genesis Waves. Both of which borrowed concepts and characters from both Sonic Rush Adventure and Shadow the Hedgehog aside from the obvious two. Also, it interesting that we’re doing an adaption within an adaption. And while this does contradict to what I said before, I can say that while the current SU arc isn’t based on a game, it’s currently taking place in an adaption and will impact the overall plot of the adaption.
Raw: While the current adaptions of both Unleashed and Shadow were handled better than the respective games, it doesn’t change the fact that their material were used for the comic’s purposes. If I came off as a jackass in my prior comment, I apologize I’m just not really liking the direction that the comics are heading right now. As a comic reader, I personally would’ve enjoyed if they stayed separated from the games instead of taking content of them and using them for their own purposes but obviously I can’t do anything but just read them since I obviously don’t work for Archie.
I will agree with Predakingxhunter on this particular point; that the current storylines going on are primarily based off mediocre games and to me that does lose points for originality. Even though events and characters differ, it still doesn’t change the fact that the primary premise of most arcs post reboot has come from the games’ stories. I think that’s why I’m bored of the current direction. I looked forward to the stories most when Ian was doing his own contributions and storylines, not piggybacking off mediocre story lines from the games, even if he is basically putting new paint on old ideas told before in the franchise.
@PredakingXHunter
Well, I think that’s just a matter of opinion then, personally I love the nods to the games, especially because are about things I liked about those like the Gaia Monsters and Temples, the Black Arms, Sonic Championship, etc., most of all I like the little nods to the Adventure games, then again I think there is enough original content to make up for all the games references.
I think my comment went to the spam folder…
@PredakingXHunter
those archs took place after the events of Rush Adventure and Shadow the Hedgehog
@Tez
yeah it sucks that penders made the comic reboot and all Ian’s not adapting storylines, he’s using characters & concepts from the in order to make new stories. The comics now are easier for new readers (who may only know sonic from the games or cartoons) pick up. It’s like what IDW is doing with ninja turtles.
games & cartoons*
“he’s using characters & concepts from the games & cartoons in order to make new stories”
wow.
Yes, they happened after their respective games, but they still burrowed characters and concepts from those games to implement them into the arc. That’s lazy IMO. If they really wanted to make unique arcs, they should’ve established new ideas/new characters so it didn’t need to feel like an adaption.
why’s my reply to PredakingXHunter still awaiting moderation?
@PredakingXHunter
Flynn’s made plenty of new characters so far

he hasn’t made new concepts but what he changed what he’s taken from the games/cartoons for the sake of the stories he’s writing.
Snively never worked for GUN in Satam

in SA2 the mystic melody could never be use to power force fields or conjure massive energy blasts

and the Dark Arms defiantly didn’t grow from monster wisp babies in ShtH

Also, the StH&SU archs are HEAVILY intertwine. Chaos in that page of StH263 came from Angel Island at the start of SU63 and not only is Shadow Fall, the Great Chaos Caper & Total Eclipse one big trilogy archs, it aslo foreshadows shadow’s alien brother becoming mephiles for a sonic ’06 adaption waaaay down the road. It’s not lazy to plan-out all that crap for a licensed all-ages comic IMO.
I understand why everyone wants the pre-reboot world back but Flynn is doing more than just writing one simple story after another.
Doesn’t change the fact that the comic’s are still heavily adopting the games. Also when I said “new Characters” I meant add new MAIN characters, it’s been SOOO many years with the freedom fighters, it would’ve been pretty interesting to add new characters into the mix. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the current FF, I just think it would’ve been interesting to add new main characters into the mix because for one it would’ve added more character interaction. And also, while I do miss the Pre-genesis wave stories, they also had their own flaws.
Well I don’t what else to tell you man, it wouldn’t be a sonic comic if it didn’t center on sonic stuff. The comic is just trying to combine everything from the franchise into one ultimate incarnation of the character and his world. Portraying recognizable characters & concepts in new ways is what mainstream comics are know for.
After pissing off so many with the reboot, I’m fairly sure Ian isn’t doing anything to the FF roster anytime soon,
oh and of*
“not only is Shadow Fall, the Great Chaos Caper & Total Eclipse one big trilogy of archs”
thank you, donnie.
