In Memorandum – Dylan Cecil: Sonic Fan
It’s a sad story we report today, it’s never a happy occasion to report a death and heart wrenching when it is that of a young child – but that is today’s task. Why are we doing this? Because he was a Sonic fan just like you.
Yesterday young Dylan Cecil was laid to rest in St Mary’s Church at Kettering in the UK by his family, he had perished during a holiday with his family to the Somerset area on August 14th after falling off a jetty whilst it is believed trying to get a better view of the sea. Despite a rapid search and rescue effort, Dylan was sadly found drowned a mile from where he went missing.
He was just four years old.
An avid Sonic fan, as well as of his local football club the service took on a distinctly blue theme referencing both Sonic and Kettering FC – some of whom were at the ceremony. Mourners including his devastated family wore blue, there were Sonic floral tributes from loved ones including his grandparents and Dylan’s other siblings. Clearly the most striking thing though was the coffin, totally blue with pictures of Sonic on the side which was carried out and transported by two white horses pulling a white carriage and even they had red and blue plumes to match the theme.
I’ll be honest, I don’t really know what to type. Four years old is nothing and to be snatched away at that age. Life is indeed cruel sometimes….
The staff at Sonic Wrecks would like to offer our condolences to the Cecil Family. Rest in Peace Dylan.

It’s really sad that a kid that young died. It’s things like this that make people wish they could change the past. I only hope that Dylan Cecil is in Heaven right now.
I know there was some word circulating around about a potential community fundraiser for the Cecil family, but it looks like nothing has materialised yet. Is anything still planned?
Yes it is, we’re in the middle of organising it now. Stay tuned to…well… everyone!
