Illinois AG Pushing for Violent Game Ban
After the ordinance at Indianapolis was shot down by a US Circuit Court of Appeals, Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan is attempting to tell retails stores to eliminate altogether the sale of so-called ‘violent’ video games. Now, he is angry at chains Best Buy and Babbages/Software Etc., because they will not adhere to any kind of policy of the sort. In a statement released two days ago, Ryan said this:
We have to continue sending the message across Illinois that ultra-violence should not be for sale to our children. Retailers already have stepped up and become partners in this effort. Now it is time to arm parents with useful information about the dangers of violent imagery. Parents, ultimately, can best protect their children from such harmful material.
We’ll keep you informed on developments.
