Exclusive: Wii/360 Confirmed for Sonic Unleashed
TSSZ News is the first video game news site to independently verify and confirm the rumours of a at least a partial multiplatform release for the wildly talked about Sonic Unleashed.
Our source, close to an independent “inside” information leak, confirms with TSSZ News that Sonic Unleashed will be released at least on the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s XBOX 360. Given all the hubbub surrounding the game’s “what-ifs” even at this very early development point, this is major news. Considering equally wide speculation about what screenshots do exist (and what video hasn’t been pulled off from the Internet) and what console they graphically represent, this is some solid footing to go on. Previous reports only pointed to an XBOX 360 release, per the quality of the screenshots released thus far.
We cannot confirm at this point whether Sony’s PlayStation 3 is part of the multiplatform release. Given the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog’s release on PS3 and XBOX 360 but not the Wii, it would be unwise to automatically assume that the PS3 will be a part of this release.
There is a second independent confirmation to report exclusively, and this is a bit of a disappointing counter to the multiplatform news. The same source also confirms with TSSZ News that the character on the right in the Jekyll and Hyde-esque image shown here is not a hoax, and that this alter ego character, on which we don’t really know anything beyond this shot, will have a role in the game. Again, we do not know what that role is, be it enemy, hero, or some other component. It is worth noting that the few major gaming sites who have shown this shot are as clueless as we are, in terms of how the unnamed character will play a role in Unleashed, but few were adamant that this was the real deal.
In addition, new information from Sega-On indicates Sonic Unleashed will be formally unveiled at the next Sega Gamers Day.
We are closely monitoring developments with the new game. When we hear more, we will bring you more, first at TSSZ.
