E3 2000: Phantasy Star Online Impressions
If the public’s thoughts on Phantasy Star Online are really this good (from Sega Otaku), then Sonic Team will have a lot to live up for this Winter:
Phantasy Star Online was one of four titles shown in Sega’s Dreamcast theatre. Quite frankly, I was very impressed with what I saw and what Sega has planned for this RPG title. It’s unique in the sense that you must communicate with other gamers over the Internet within the Phantasy Star world in order to achieve various objectives.
Besides the unique concept, the video footage showcased excellent graphics and animation which should take this title to the next level upon it’s release.
It’s a shame that Sega did not have this game playable but regardless of this, I feel as though Sega has yet another hit on their hands with this Sonic Team developed project. The Dreamcast is looking stronger than ever, and Phantasy Star Online is helping push the envelope.
