Box Office Mojo February 14-16 US Weekend Box Office Estimates: Sonic – $57,000,000

More estimates have come in. And it continues to look really good for the Sonic movie. Box Office Mojo now expects the Sonic movie to hit the top spot in the box office for the US on its opening weekend, netting $57,000,000. Once again, this would mean that Sonic the Hedgehog has the best opening weekend in the United States for a video game adaptation movie.

Compared to other movies, it won’t even be close. The vast majority of the other movies expected to chart in the box office have been available for a while now, they weren’t available in that many theaters, or they didn’t get much media attention and faded into obscurity. As for Birds of Prey, its staying power doesn’t look good. But, it may gross $59,273,302 as of its second week of availability. And yet, the Sonic movie may achieve that number in half the time it took Birds of Prey to do the same.

Sometime this coming week, we’ll finally know how the Sonic movie did. And it won’t be estimates, either.
