Al Gore Supports FTC Findings on Violent Games
CNN.com reports that Al Gore lashed out at the entertainment industry yesterday, after an FTC report released claimed that music, movie, and video game companies deliberately market so-called ‘violent’ material to teenagers. From the mouth of Gore himself:
If the industry makes a promise not to market inappropriate material to children but then does so, it could be guilty of false advertising. It’s hard enough to raise children today without the entertainment industry making it more difficult. We believe in giving parents better information and more tools to help them protect their children from inappropriate material.
As we’ve been telling you for weeks now, the Gore/Lieberman ticket could mean potential tougher standards for the entertainment industry, possibly even regulation. We’ll follow this Election 2000 hot-button issue for gamers all the way through.
