Review Revisited: Sonic Mania

Circumstances were weird for me back when Sonic Mania originally launched in August of last year. TSSZ readers may recall that Louis reviewed the game back then, giving it a perfect 5 star rating. I had promised on various platforms that I would produce a Sonic Mania video review, but literally everything got in the way of that: I left the house I grew up in, moved two states away, landed in the middle of a housing shortage, found myself in the hospital not just once but twice, and had my PC implode from a power surge, among other things.

It was not until April of this year that work truly began on that Sonic Mania video review, though obviously, it has grown beyond merely being just a review. There’s too much history and too many complex emotions at play here for that. So, here we are, on the launch of Sonic Mania Plus, thirty minutes of me talking about the original Sonic Mania — and while I’m sure some of you are thinking such a video may be obsolete in the face of the brand new Plus, it’s probably not as obsolete as you might think.

Regardless, and this may be my downfall considering the last time I made a promise like this, expect a follow-up video in the coming weeks where I discuss Sonic Mania Plus, and how it reflects upon what I have to say about the original Sonic Mania.
