Yoshi’s Wooly World Sonic Amiibo Content Announced
It started with Mario Kart 8. Now it’s moving to a land of yarn.
Nintendo posted a trailer today confirming that you will be able to use nearly all your Amiibo (excluding the Pokemon ones) in Yoshi’s Wooly World to unlock a particular costume for Yoshi. Among the Amiibo listed is Sonic.
It seems Yoshi will be able to dress up as the blue blur in Yoshi’s Wooly World.
You can watch the trailer here.

Sonic fits right in with Nintendo’s family on the Wii U, I guess.
In my opinion, the Wii U is the best console ever.
All things considered, it’s a really nice system. If it had a better name, better advertising, and more developers willing to make games for it, it’d sell more. It’s sad that few of my othet friends will ever know the joys of games like Super Smash Bros., Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, Splatoon, or Super Mario 3D World…
I agree, regardless of the three game deal being a failure, it’s a fantastic system, definitely. When it comes to exclusives, even for the foreseeable future, it’s got the Xbox One and Playstation 4, especially, absolutely beat. Sony’s having serious problems getting any of their games out on time. It’s a shame that the best system of three is the worst selling.
Hey, something’s been bugging me, but… are you the same Sonikdude101 from Youtube (though he goes by Antdude92 now)? Just curious.
Yes, I still go by this screename in some circles.
It is a pretty good system all things considered. Hopefully the next Sonic game announced for the Wii U is something that was actually planned to be played on the Wii U since the very beginning and not something that was just thought up to be ported exclusively at the last second like the last few. Though purely for sake of variety, I am looking forward to seeing Sonic return to multiple consoles again, as I feel Sonic shines his best when he’s not exclusive to just one company and their idea of him. Hope to see some more successful titles for the next multiplatform game (yes, even the XBone, there’s no point in praying for a bad game to happen for any system now is there?)! X3″
I don’t think the Nintendo exclusivity deal has anything to do with the actual content that was produced, nor does the console the games are produced for have any bearing on Sonic’s identity.
Sega themselves have a very warped and fractured view of their cash cow (which is literally all he is to them anymore), which is why we get what we get. Mulitplatform releases are fine (albeit they come with increased risk for Sonic Team to spread themselves too thin with ports and dev time, which they already do by default), but I don’t feel like putting Sonic on other consoles is going to do anything to change the direction they’ve been taking him.
Not to worry though. Rest assured that every new game for the forseeable forever will try to change that direction in favor of something new, until Sega finally (and accidentally) hits that random sweet spot they’ve been blindly flailing for.
That’s really subjective since the “Nintendo Family” have very different characters for different audiences, but I think Sonic would fit really good in the Star Fox universe or alongside characters like Shulk, then again he could fit really well in other “families” like with Megaman and Megaman X from Capcom, with most Tales of games from Namco, even with BlazBlue from Arc System, but honestly I think Yoshi has to be one of the most unfitting videogame franchises for Sonic.
I love the WiiU, but Sonic games on WiiU have been garbage.
This is true. And the complicated part is, at least in the case of Boom, the lack of quality is partly because of the console’s lower-powered hardware.
Of course, I’d argue that Boom didn’t appeal to me even in its PC stage…but it’s something to think about.
A console’s value is dependent on the user. Unfortunately, as someone who never cared for Nintendo IPs too much (as fun as they can be), it’s value is about $50 to me. 🙁
I hope Sonic returns to multi-plat, but I definitely understand if he doesn’t. He does fit in with the Nintendo crowd.
I bought a PS4 for 400 dollars. It came with a free game I keep forgetting to even try, because I have so little interest in it. I have played exactly two games for it, with no more on the horizon that particularly interest me (and one of them came from the bargain bin). Just by virtue of that, my console presently hovers around the value of 80 bucks, with a reasonable potential for increasing over time (albeit at a fairly slow crawl). I’m already considering buying the Xbox1, just to get my hands on another paltry handful of exclusives to keep my gaming appetite sated.
I have nearly twice as many games for the Wii U alone, not including virtual console titles (several of which being multiplayer party games that will retain their play value long after I stop playing any particular single player game), and already there are a plethora of upcoming titles I am greatly anticipating/can expect to release in the next year.
I’d say I got money’s worth by a long shot (and at that price, I could buy two and not feel cheated). Even if Nintendo announces the NX as early as next year and drops Wii U support cold turkey. The Wii U is not a great system, for a lot of reasons, but for me, its game library blows the other next-gen systems out of the water. How many years into this generation are we? I can still count the number of exciting titles for PS4 and XB1 on one hand.
Finally I can make my original fan character, Sonic Yoshi, do not steal.
Sonic is selling his butt again.
More Nintendo whoring?
Alrighty then.
Kinda fitting since Yoshi got some DLC in a Sonic game recently. :3
Also, I like how everyone is saying that Sonic is selling out even though he’s not even in any of the Amiibo compatible games. I guess everybody thinks his outfits embody his soul or something like that, lol! XD
He works with MK too. I wish he did have some more specific functionality though, I want Sonic everything. 😛
So Nintendo believes Sonic fits right in with Yoshi games? Of all their franchises?
*Sigh* this is exactly why I don‘t want Sonic to be Nintendo exclusive, much less to be developed by Nintendo at all, if at least they somehow crossover Sonic with Star Fox for example I would have been cool with that, but Yoshi just doesn’t fit Sonic at all unless they want to kiddyfy and simplify Sonic much more than they have been doing since Sonic Colors.
It’s not just Sonic. Mega Man will also be a themed-Yoshi with the Mega Man Amiibo(And I have both)
Dude, it’s just a F[censored]ING COSTUME. GET OVER IT.
That went for the Sonic Lost World DLC as well, but I should do as you say and just get over Sonic already -_-
I don’t see why you take this so seriously. If you hate all of this so much then why SAY you’re going to get over Sonic and not DO IT? Lord, this is about DLC you don’t even have to use. Why does it fucking matter?
Not even CLOSE to what I meant.
Actually, the Toad amiibo is getting a costume. It’s just the Pokemon characters that won’t be getting them, which as a huge Pokemon fan, I find to be unfair.
I see. Fixed!
Little big planet for Nintendo?
Art style sort of but Mario Maker is really Nintendo’s version of Little Big Planet.
Well, there was an entire Yoshi-based DLC level in Lost World, so I guess it’s only fair?
When will they cancel this Sonic-Nintendo ordeal? It has done nothing good for Sonic, but plenty of bad.
Yoshi is disgustingly cute….. yuck my eyes can’t handle that much adorablness.
