Watch John Carmack’s BAFTA Fellowship Award Speech And Reaction
Late last month it was revealed Oculus VR’s Chief Technology Officer John Carmack was to be honoured by BAFTA with one of its prestigious Fellowship awards (the highest award the organisation can bestow) for his legacy of work within the video game industry. In doing so joining fellow luminaries such as Shigeru Miyamoto and Gabe Newell. At the time Carmack, commenting on his work, acknowledging that he had “remained passionate about the potential for engineering and technology improvements to expand the range of human creativity.”
Receiving the award just over a week ago, Carmack touched in his speech on the early days of designing and engineering noting the number of changes the industry has undergone before bringing up the bright future of developments within VR. “I’m just getting started.” Carmack concluded, echoing his previous statement on receiving the nomination that he was “as excited about the future today as I was when I started.”
BAFTA has now released the video of the speech in full as well as Carmack’s follow up interview with the BAFTA team. Both of which you can see here.
