Warnings Issued Over Fake Takashi Iizuka Account

The revival of a parody Takashi Iizuka account has prompted the public face of all things Sonic in the West to clarify and caution about it.

The account, alleging to be that of Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka, first promised a giveaway of 50 copies of the Team Sonic Racing soundtrack. The account today upped the ante to a TSR-branded car.

This is the second act for the fake Iizuka account. It first appeared in 2015 when Sonic Runners launched. The prospect of it giving away soundtracks has prompted Aaron Webber to issue a warning: Don’t fall for it. It could be a phishing scam for your personal information. Webber reminds that the official Sonic account, @sonic_hedgehog, will be the source for any and all official giveaways.

The account is 100% fake, so it's likely the game giveaway may be too.

In general, please be careful about ever giving out sensitive info (like your mailing address) even if you get excited thinking you won something! Any official giveaways will come from @sonic_hedgehog. 🙂
