Video: Sonic & Knuckles MTV competition
Before Sonic & Knuckles was released, Sega & MTV teamed up to bring us a gaming competition in Alcatraz. Though most of us would call this a very long commercial showing off the game and Knuckles. A large group of kids from all over the world compete for $25K to see who can collect the most rings as Knuckles. The actual competition and host are very much cringe-worthy, it’s still worth skipping ten minutes into the video to get a quick look at the development of the game at Sega Technical Institute.
I saw this a couple weeks ago. It’s pretty stupid, and they show practically no in-game footage, but the development stuff was all pretty cool.
I especially love how they treated the Lock-On as such a big deal when all it was was SEGA being unable to develop the full game in time or on a single cart.
THE COOLEST THING ABOUT THIS GAME IS THE MUSHROOMS.
@Viewtiful Jeff: How many games did what Sonic and Knuckles did? It’s one of the reasons that Sonic 3 & Knuckles is (in my opinion) the best Sonic game ever made.
I find it funny that it’s in San Francisco; there’s an actual Angel Island there, just off Alcatraz.
Haha! 😀
SIMPLY THE BEST, THE COOLEST COMPETITION EVER!!!
@Soul Gauge: I agree with you, but next is Sonic Unleashed 😛
Ahhhh. These were the times where Sonic was simply the greatness. Lovin the 90s style
When the little guy throws the mushrooms, you gotta DUCK!
