Ultra Claiming Innocence in SFGHQ/FGN Attack
In our efforts to bring you fair coverage of this, the Sonic Scene is presenting the other side of this story–that of Ultra. I have two AIM transcripts which I wish to share with you. First, this is one conducted by Tonic Hedgehog and Ultra. From the SFGHQ MB:
BBrown9326: Just confess that you did it.
Ultra The Vamp: I didn’t do it.
Ultra The Vamp: I have proof.
BBrown9326: Ok, tell me.
Ultra The Vamp: I’ll show you.
Ultra The Vamp: I can’t send the file.
BBrown9326: My email is BBrown9326@aol.com
Ultra The Vamp: There I sent it.
BBrown9326: That doesn’t help it a bit.
Ultra The Vamp: It does.
Ultra The Vamp: My connection is 56k.
Ultra The Vamp: That folder has SFGHQ files in it.
BBrown9326: I don’t see where that…
Ultra The Vamp: Now answer this question……….
Ultra The Vamp: Why would I download that much stuff with a 56k connection (it took 5-6 days I might add) just to delete it?
BBrown9326: Ahhh. That clears it up.
BBrown9326: So it’s possible somebody else with an AT&T account could’ve hacked the website, FINDING the password, and deleting it.
Ultra The Vamp: I’m doing an investigation.
Ultra The Vamp: Andy gave me some time to do it.
Also, the Sonic Scene conducted an exclusive mini-interview with Ultra via AIM. Here’s what he had to say, in his own words:
*****
Sonic Scene: Basically, because I want to be fair and balanced, I want you to explain to me, in your own words, why you are innocent, and why people think you are guilty of the Emulation Zone hack.
Ultra The Vampire: Ok. I’ll tell you the same thing I told rlan. I left SFGHQ, a couple of days before the attack happened. A day after i left i checked the news, and i saw rlan was going on vacation. So I decided to advertise my new game. And, I also decided to update my backup of SFGHQ. And that takes a few days (exactly 5-6 days, I have a 56k modem) And then I started my vacation.
I was at my house and decided to see what was happening at SFGHQ. I couldn’t get to it. So I thought something was wrong; I went home and then went on AIM. And I asked what happened. Nobody knew, some said Emulation Zone had an error. So I went to sleep. When I woke up I saw I was being blamed. And that’s what been happning up to now.
Sonic Scene: All right, and I understand you are conducting an investigation of your own to see who did this. How is that coming along?
Ultra: Not well. I decided to stop it anyways; even if I found out who did by the time I did MMDG would deleted by then.
Sonic Scene: All right. Thank you for your time.

So, was it Ultra? A lot of people think so, though some do not. If it was not Ultra, then who did it? We may never know. However, as it stands right now, all signs still currently point to him.
