Two Unannounced Sonic Revolution Guests Cancel After Coronavirus Emergencies Declared
Despite just about everything in the game industry involving a public gathering being canceled this week, organizers of the 2020 Sonic Revolution festival in Whittier, California have maintained their show is still on the first Sunday of June.
But TSSZ has learned two unannounced guests for the show have canceled their appearances, largely due to the cancellation of E3 and the ripple effect impacts it has had on related events and travel accommodations.
TSSZ does not know the identities of the two guests.
Organizers tell TSSZ that planning still continues, even in these uncertain times. We’ve learned another guest announcement will be revealed soon.
Whittier, where Sonic Revolution will be held, is within the limits of Los Angeles County, which declared a health emergency last week after several cases of coronavirus were confirmed. The governor of California on Wednesday called for, but not implemented a statewide ban on public gatherings of more than 250 people.
The city of Whittier itself is not under any such restriction at this time, but TSSZ has learned from organizers they will cut the number of tickets sold for the event in half, from 400 to 200. A large portion of those 200 tickets have already been sold, TSSZ understands. The remaining 200 tickets could be sold if any proposed or enacted state restrictions ease.
We will continue to bring you developments on Sonic Revolution here as warranted.
You have a mispelling “Whitter” instead of Whittier
Appreciate it, thanks! -T
