Space Harrier Revealed as next SEGA AGES Switch Remaster

Early Thursday in Japan, Sega of Japan’s official social media alerted followers that a classic rail shooter will become part of the Sega Ages lineup for Nintendo Switch.

First release to arcades in 1985, it’s not the first Ages remaster for Space Harrier, having been released to the Nintendo 3DS. Sega is promising improvements above and beyond the 3DS edition. Also coming is a Komainu Barrier Attack, featuring special protection from the typical guardian of Stage 17’s boss.

No Western release has been given – in fact no release timetable has been given at all. A bit of a backlog has developed with the Ages Switch lineup. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, for example, has been announced to be part of the series, but no enhanced features or clear timetable for its arrival on Nintendo’s system has been given, in the West or elsewhere.
