Sonic Unleashed now playable on Xbox One

We’re one step closer to every Xbox 360 Sonic game being playable on the Xbox One through backwards compatibility. A few months ago, Sonic Generations was added to the list of backwards compatible titles, and today, nearly on the game’s tenth anniversary, Sonic Unleashed joins the list of Xbox 360 games playable on the Xbox One.

Typically, Xbox 360 games playable on the Xbox One feature improved performance (smoother framerates) and increased output resolution (for cleaner graphics). It’s early yet, but Twitter user RGXSuperSonic suggests Sonic Unleashed, even on Xbox One, still exhibits performance problems, but that it’s ultimately difficult to tell:

Still some frame rate slowdowns in stages like Jungle Joyride. The game feels like it has an inconsistent frame rate, not sure if unlocked. I think it may run better than on Xbox 360, though not absolutely sure. Might have to get @digitalfoundry on it.

Resolution is also unaffected. Only backwards compatible games marked with “Xbox One X Enhanced” get resolution boosts, and just like the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Generations, Sonic Unleashed receives no X-specific enhancements, meaning it stays at its original 720p output.
