Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart to be Speedrun in Frost Fatales 2020
Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart has soared in popularity in recent months, and on Wednesday, it will become just the second Sonic fan game ever to be featured during a Games Done Quick backed charity event.
That event is Frost Fatales 2020, a week-long, online series of speedruns, all conducted by women. AeonFrodo will be running, and the block will start Wednesday morning at approximately 10:16AM ET, and continue for an hour and a half – though the speedrun’s expected to be much faster.
As with other GDQ events, donations are encouraged, and for Frost Fatales, 100 percent of them will benefit the Malala Fund, named for and co-founded by Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, an advocate for the education of women and children in her home country of Pakistan and around the world. The Malala Fund grants $4 million per year toward the goal of educating girls in need in a free, safe environment.
SRB2 Kart will not be the only opportunity for the Sonic community to show their support for the event and the cause. On Thursday afternoon, a Sonic-themed block will begin at 2:47PM ET with Sonic Chaos, the classic Sonic trilogy, a bit of Jazz Jackrabbit 2 sprinkled in, and continue at 6:15PM with Sonic Mania.
If you wondered, Sanicball–yes, Sanicball–was the first SFG to be speedrun, during AGDQ 2019.
Sorry T, but I’m afraid you’re wrong about the whole first SFG on GDQ thing. They did Sanic Ball the other year. That said, I still think it’s absolutely freaking awesome to see more fan games hitting GDQ though, but to be fair I may be a bit biased in that respect, hah. Can’t wait to see how big SFGs are going to continue to blow up like this, it’s really pretty amazing to watch for a guy in my position. We’ve come a long ways since Sonic Bible Adventure. I’m sure Ryan’s pretty stoked about how things have developed over the past few years too, he’s a big part of how we got where we are today after all!
