Sonic Movie Trailer Debuts At CinemaCon, Sonic & Robotnik Featured, “Gangsta’s Paradise” Appears

Heeere we go.

A couple of Sonic movie previews were shown at CinemaCon. We don’t 100% know if it will be released to the public, but there’s a lot of tweets floating around (and articles from Deadline and SlashFilm) about what happened. Rumors of Gangsta’s Paradise playing in the background of the Sonic trailer are true.

Got a look at the #SonicTheHedgehog trailer, focusing on Sonic teaming up with James Marsden to fight Dr. Robotnik and then got a Jim Carrey-centered version of the trailer where he seems to be back in comedic form. He may well be the best selling point of this one. #CinemaCon

Next up: Sonic The Hedgehog! The stars of #SonicMovie, James Marsden, @IAmTikaSumpter, and Ben Schwartz (@RejectedJokes), hit the stage and (after some debate about the difference between porcupines and hedgehogs) introduce a sneak peek of the film! #CinemaCon

Paramount then played a second trailer which was Dr Robotnik centric. Jim Carrey is basically playing Ace Ventura but smart. He’s got hair and a handle bar mustache but it ended with him in full bald, red suit, glasses glory. #CinemaCon

And of couse, it wouldn’t be #SonicMovie without Dr. Robotnik—Eggman himself, @JimCarrey, is here! His suggestion: change the name of #SonicMovie to “Robotnik Conquers The World.” 😂 #CinemaCon

Live action film with Sonic being CG. Sonic meets a human couple and then sets out to save the world from a mad scientist-like Robotnik. Lots of humor and some action. Just looks like a ton of fun
