Sonic Forces Promotional Trailer Video Posted
A brand new Sonic Forces promotional video has gone live moments ago, as of this article’s writing.
A lot of cutscene footage has appeared in the trailer, the vast majority of which we haven’t seen before. If you’ve been curious about the story of this game, we’ve just gotten a bit more information on it.

Ahh!! I love it!
Whoa the exciting action packed story of a bunch of characters just standing around talking, they can up the polygon count, toss in a bunch of new shaders but these cutscenes are still barely evolved over the Dreamast . Cramming all those characters into the story when they’re not playable and is kinda hilarious, in Generations this was ignorable as they were barely there outside of select instances but in Forces you’re either seeing them cutscenes or having them you reaching for the mute button while you’re actually playing the game that’s not even getting into how this game is apparently about raising a resistance force yet this only factors into the story and not the gameplay Unleashed and Colors made the right call in ignoring them outside of Tails and Amy as the game is unable to explain why you can’t play as them unless you look into the development background of what led to the friends being leashed.
I
I feel like half of that wasn’t English.
Proper punctuation, my friend.
To be fair, the primary purpose of video games is playing the game, so I’d rather play the epic, action-packed parts of a story than just sit and watch them.
There was only like, two real instances of a group of characters standing and talking in a single spot. If you’re looking for something like that, try Street Fighter V’s piss poor excuse for a story mode (or even MvC Infinite since I can guarantee that game is gonna be just as shit as SFV)
Omg look, the other characters are there but not playable!!! Something we already knew over w freakin year ago!!
Look at me! I’m SSJSONICWHATEVER!! I know you all said, playable or not, to at LEAST give the other characters more attention so they’re not like Lost World, BUT I DON’T LIKE IT!
Also there’s not enough bounce in their standing around so they’re not nearly as good as the Adventure games’ version of standing around and talking!
I saw Rouge, so she’s confirmed, but now I need to know if Blaze and Cream will be in the game!
Omega is in Speed Battle so perhaps he is in Forces as well.
Sounds legit.
I am positively excited by the apparent depth of story they are implementing in Sonic Forces, where the characters will be working on a colossal scale against Eggman in a planet-wide resistance force, welcomingly drawing inspiration from the Sonic SatAM TV series with the freedom fighters throughout the game.
The pacing and transitioning especially just seem so clean and effortless, so neatly weaved and primely packaged together, and not at all ham-handed in a Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)- or Sonic Boom-like way. The one scene that appears to be Sonic and the Custom Character’s first meeting where Sonic narrowly saves him from a hoard of Eggman’s robots especially draws me in within seconds just through the few frames presented to me: that is the art of cinematic storytelling done right. Face it: compared to many of the fast-paced, well-choreographed scenes we are seeing here, the scenes from the Adventure series now seem tired and old, such as the iconic second scene in Sonic Adventure where Sonic (with unnaturally slow, cringe-inducing gaping horse mouth) awkwardly reacts to Tails crashing his plane on the coastline.
Hyper hyped! This is a splendid showing of what is to come for a game that is basically confirmed to be, per the leaks, the rock star sequel of Sonic Mania. Initially, I was a harsh skeptic, thinking this was going to be an overrated Sonic Generations 2 try-hard title that could burn me that is characteristic of the Sonic cycle, but no longer. Mark my words: as soon as the preorder option appears for the PC version, I am putting down my credit card number without a hint of trepidation or hesitation. Sonic is back with Sonic Mania, and he is here to stay with Sonic Forces!
This game looks like it’s going to be huge as hell. We already know of 4 boss battles with Chaos, Shadow, Metal Sonic, and Zavok, then another boss battle with Eggman from Classic Sonic, then Dust Green Hill in 4 play styles, and 3 play styles for Park Avenue/Sunset Heights. That’s 12 levels already, and we still have the spooky forest, high tech, chemical plant, and black factory areas we’ve seen in the trailers.
And the story looks absolutely incredible. Infinite is Eggman’s own OC like a lot of people assumed, and he is the main reason why Eggman was able to take over the world. I love seeing Silver and Knuckles take the initiative and command everyone to fight back. Shit’s intense.
Now will all of those OC’s, I really hope we get online multiplayer. Don’t let me down Sonic Team.
Yay Rouge is there! Hopefully Blaze will show up in the next trailer or something. And am I the only one who wants to see Marine come back? Just 3D wise though with no talking?
Whoa. What is this feeling…? Excitement?
Okay, so, I’m still a bit unconvinced by the graphics, but from what little we get to see of the story, this feels interesting. I’m especially happy the Avatar appears to be included as an actual character in the cutscenes, how they meet Sonic and so on.
Yeah, this sure peaked my interest! Might be fun, even.
Hope to see an english version of this at TGS, this looks very exciting!
Something tells me they don’t really have a need to show an English version of a Japanese version… In Tokyo.
I don’t think I can get pass the talking character during gameplay and all of these characters are in the same pose.
