Sonic Boom 3DS: New Rival Race Shown At GameStop Expo
A GameStop Expo stream of the convention’s playable demos of Sonic Boom has just recently finished at the time of this article’s writing. While the majority of the gameplay of both versions didn’t show anything new off nor was there anything new mentioned by Derrek Peel, Senior Marketing Manager at SEGA, the end dropped a goodie: footage of a 3DS rival race with Metal Sonic.
It turns out that not only is the race similar to Sonic CD and Sonic Rivals but Metal Sonic can also use an Enerbeam much like the main characters can, something of which we hadn’t seen yet.
The GameStop Expo is still ongoing however you can still catch an archive of the demo (beginning around 2:03:30 into the video) on Twitch.

I watched it live.
The Spin Dash is slower than a doped-up slug in molasses. And I thought it was nerfed horribly in Lost World…

They’re using old footage with the dull lighting (Wii U ver) I don’t understand why they haven’t recorded new footage.
You can tell its old from the same exact scenes and moves as before, also in the beginning stage where Amy and Sonic talk they are facing away from QNC, but with the newer stage demo they look towards him with actual talking animation, QNC also moves his mouth.
Least 3Ds has new footage but its a shame they decided to use this ugly build for the Wii U to show off for this interview, hope its not the build at the expo yikes.

That in game camera is terrible and jerky. Bummer.
Speaking of Boom, I found an indie game that pretty much does combat better than Boom in every way possible.
Oh, have you actually played Boom…?
Don’t have to play it to know it looks slow, clunky, and repetitive.
