Poll: 42% Compelled to Purchase Wii U After Sonic / Nintendo Deal
Last month’s announcement that the next three Sonic games would be Nintendo exclusives surprised many in the Sonic community, especially given how lackluster Nintendo’s Wii U console has performed on store shelves so far. At least two of the three titles don’t appear to be one-offs, either.
With that in mind, the latest TSSZ @Issue poll asked if the deal compelled audiences to purchase a Wii U. Given the extra time allotted to the poll, it received plenty of response, to the tune of some 1,626 votes. Of those, the plurality vote was at 42 percent with a Yes vote. Another 29 percent voted No, and the remaining 29 percent indicated they already owned the system. So, there is still a significant audience to be had on Wii U with this deal.
A new poll is now available to vote on. The above results can be discussed below in the comments.
If the Wii U gets multiple strong Sonic titles, I’ll consider purchasing it. Keyword consider — no longer do I throw out that kind of money for Sonic. Otherwise I would’ve got a Wii for Sonic Colors a long time ago.
We share sentiments! I am pleased that I am not alone in the world!
Wii U is backwards compatible with Wii games so that means you can play Sonic Colours as well as Sonic Lost World. Maybe that’s made you consider it a bit more now? 😛
You can buy Sonic Colors and a Wii for less the price of a retail ps3 or xbox 360 game. I wouldnt see why anyone would pass that up.
I bought my Wii U yesterday, and let me say this guys, it is worth the money. It feels great to hold the gamepad and it just looks sleek. Can’t wait to get Sonic Lost World!
If they games are highly received I would consider the purchase but on the other hand to me the wii u and this upcoming generation of consoles looks dull so far.
And so was the last, and the one before that, and the one before that, and the 3DS launch.
Honestly I think I’ll hold off till 2014 at the earliest.
Honestly, I voted no in that poll, but I still plan to get a Wii U. The problem is that, Sonic Lost World didn’t compel me to get a Wii U. I don’t have one, but I already planned on getting one eventually anyway. As such, I think one more option should’ve been added to say “Already planned to get one.” That would’ve made the poll a lot better in my honest opinion.
Sonic Lost World alone didn’t compel me to purchase a Wii U, as I already have a 3DS and I may get it for that.
If I had a Wii U, the only games I would really get for it would be Lost World and the new Smash Bros– which sucks, because I wish there were more reasons for me to purchase one.
Already had a Wii U in preparation for upcoming games like Smash Bros. (which looks fucking sweet), but Sonic Lost World is one title I’ll definitely be picking up,
Got Wii U because you already know Nintendo is cooking up goodies. Mario Kart 8 was my biggest reason. I cant get enough of Mario Kart Wii. I still play it I already own Sonic Racing Transformed for Wii U (and its awesome) and now I will be picking up Lost World
I’m getting tired of this polls only because I think most of them lack focus, for example in this one I voted no because it wasn’t only the Sonic but several games for Wii U what compelled me to buy one.
And in the new poll I would say I will watch a new Sonic animated series ONLY if I think is good, wich is imposible to know right now, a better poll would have been what kind of tone do you like for a new Sonic animated series (i.e. like Sonic Colors, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Archie Comics, AOSTH, MLP, etc.)
Haha, I feel that way about most of the polls here XD
no i am still waiting for ps4 sonic next gen…they will announce by this fall 2013
doubt it. They have to announce the 3rd Sonic game in the nintendo partnership deal first! I reckon we’ll get news on PS4/XBONE sonic near the end of 2014 or somewhere in 2015 🙁
True, but that doesn’t mean that a multi-platform Sonic can’t come out in 2014, remember that Sonic 2006 and Secret Rings came out almost at the same time, also we don’t know what kind of game could it be, perhaps its a party game, a competitive game or (pardon me for my fanboyism) Sonic Rush 3DS, and not a direct competitor with a home console action-adventure game.
@WHO – No.
I was going to buy a Wii-U anyway. It’s the cheapest. I have the most forward compatible games for it[Read:Any] and after E3, it’s got the most new games I want.
I don’t even remember what I voted. I was planning on getting a Wii U eventually for Bayo2, but Lost World definitely pushed me into buying it earlier than expected. Either way, it’s not something I’d buy for a mere one or two games. I trust Nintendo to churn out plenty of quality titles that will eventually make my purchase worthwhile.
I’ve had a Wii U since launch so I said no 😛 Can’t wait for Lost Worlds! It looks Amazing!!!
I have the Nintendo Wii G.
It is more powerful than both the PS4 & DRMbox put together and uses a duelscreen Gamepad Tablet. Online features are so up to date that it makes Steam look bad.
The reason I bought a Wii G was because Nintendo had bought the rights to Sonic Adventure 3, Adventure 4 and Adventure 4.2. As well as the new Super Real Smash Brothers game. Mario Kart 14 was a real eye opener too.
It was priced at only £899 and out of all those consoles and Wii U, it was worth buying Wii G.
“Nintendo Wii G – It’s not just an upgrade. It’s a even longer looking console.”
Holy crap…
Nintendo just revealed the Nintendo HDS and Nintendo Wii C!
*over dramatised joke not included with the basic dulex edition of Wii C. Eyes may twitch due to random text.*
If sonic is in smash brothers il get a wii u. If he’s not… I won’t. Lost world looks good but I just want sonic fighting megaman.
I already had the thoughts of buying a Wii U long before the poll. I skipped out on buying the Wii U at launch because there was hardly any games worth getting it for, other then maybe ZombiU. Certainly not Transformed because I already have it on the 360 AND the PC. This past week, after watching the E3, I felt pretty convinced to go out and buy it, which I did. Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends (for the Gamepad), Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Sonic Lost World, Bayonetta 2, and Smash Bros. Kerfuffle and Monolith’s X definitely look like they are worth having a Wii U for. Hope it gets some more games in the long run as it really deserves more good stuff.
I probably got the Wii U too soon still, but after noticing that my area is barely stocked up on the console, I figured now was the time before these games started pouring out.
