All of these new projects excite me. Lego Demensions looks surprisingly fun, to the point where I’m considering getting it just for Sonic’s portion (though it is costly, so I may not). Sonic Mania seems like it’ll be pretty fun, and undoubtedly eat up many hours of my time. and Proj-17, while we don’t know much yet, has at least intrigued me, so I’m looking forward to more news. This next year has got me rather excited!
I’m mainly excited for Sonic Mania just simply because of how perfect it is going to turn out. However, that doesn’t mean that I’m not excited for Lego Sonic and Project 2017. Lego Sonic just looks like it’ll be dumb fun and I’m fairly certain that Project 2017 will be a good game, but we just don’t know much about the game. Sonic Mania is basically exactly what I want out of Sonic because Sonic 3&k is my favorite game, but Generations is a close second and I’m fairly certain that Project 2017 will have the Generations gameplay.
Btw, I am a big proponent of the idea that 3 Sonic’s will be in the game, and I’m certain that the 3rd Sonic will not be Boom Sonic. I guess that it is fate that we didn’t get Dreamcast Sonic in Generations, because Dreamcast Sonic is the simplest way to one up Generations automatically. I just think the pieces fit perfectly for a Dreamcast Sonic appearance. The reason Dreamcast Sonic wasn’t in Generations was because SEGA tried to forced Drummond to switch unions. SEGA was basically strict af 5 years ago. Now, it seems SEGA has lightened up on their strictness, as they are definitely not pushing for either Mania or Project 2017 for a holiday 2016 release. This lack of strictness may allow for Drummond to easily become a part of a new Sonic game. That’s just my take on the situation.
Also, I heard the roger is now in a union, so it’s not any cheaper for them (Still not sure if that’s true though ill look into it) also may be a coincidence, but Ryan has been awfully quiet on is his twitter.
We can only wait!
Sonic Mania not only existing but letting it take the spotlight over Sonic Team’s own game.
Well. This is cool. Glad to see we’re all excited! Mania has gotten to the point where it looks like its soundtrack, which only has one song mind you, could be better than CD’s. Have you heard Studiopolis?! It’s amazing!
Oh, and I’m most looking forward to 2017 since it is the future of the series in regards to Modern Sonic and the storyline.
I’m pretty happy with how things are turning out. I’m a simple guy though. I’m in it just to enjoy myself and not analyze the game to death unless it has actual problems. Sonic Mania is looking incredible though I’m not too happy with old stages returning, but it’s no biggie. My little brother is obsessed with the Lego games and now I have a character I can use alongside his Lego Batman. Project 2017 is looking to like it’ll have the same gameplay from Colors and Generations, which is fine by me though I hope there isn’t too much of a focus on mindless boosting.
Overall, I’m pretty happy. I can’t believe I’m actually hyped overall. I REALLY WANT TO PLAY MANIA NOW.
As long as Sega’s got their shit together I’m on board.
sonic mania is going to be the best sonic game since sonic 3 & knuckles came out.
Here’s what I think:
– I think that Adventure Sonic will make his debut in 2017 with Adventure-style gameplay
– I believe Sonic Mania will leave off from Sonic Generations and the first zone will be Green Hill
– Sonic Mania’s plot which involves time/dimension traveling will play a key role in the story of 2017
– The end of Sonic Mania will lead into Project 2017 or 2017 will continue what Mania started or left off with
– In other words, these two games are tied to each other
– If SEGA wants to always please Classic Sonic fans, then I think they will keep Classic Sonic as a mainstay character in the Modern Sonic storyline. This way, we can always get 2D and 3D gameplay.
Damn I love your theories!
Though regarding your last statement I think it should be better if Sega just branches out the Classic Sonic universe into its own thing, I think that would work better for Classic (and Modern) fans, also would be more profitable and far a better idea than keep making Sonic Boom games, then again they could keep the 3 branches going if they can, they get more money, fans have more options to pick from, everybody wins!
Just don’t let Project 2017 be as bare-bones in content and story like Generations/Colors were. There’s promise in this, and I want a game that’s worth getting a PS4 other than Tekken 7.
Regarding the new poll I would say Sonic Project 2017 got me more excited, its finally bringing back the action and epicness with a seemingly worthy plot, a long overdue change of peace if you ask me, also while we haven’t seen anything from the gameplay it at leat seems they will do something similar to Unleashed/Generations gameplay but with all the time invested it would be naive to think it won’t have some new tweaks and twists, hopefully they will at least change the dull 2D sections for 3D sections with more freedom to explore around and discover secrets.
Also I’m very excited for Sonic Mania, so far they seem to be hitting all the right buttons with it (a developer who understands what made Sonic work so well in the Genesis/CD games, faithful and updated art direction, killer soundtrack, multiple playable characters, longer than Generations, etc.), but even if I like this game more than all the classics I still want Sonic to move forward, I would be more than happy if this game is a big success and if we get Sonic Mania 2, 3, 4, etc. but I still want Modern Sonic to keep evolving in the 3D world with last generation technology, not to mention that I’m still waiting for that true transition of the Genesis gameplay into the 3D world i not something even better!
For those of you who DON’T already own Lego Dimensions, not worth it.
LD is not a video game, but a giant toy app. It only works if you have the toy pad (which is said to be faulty), which is only included in the $90-$100 starter pack.
sonic current state is looking better then before.
