Several previews reveal more info on Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Several previews on Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed have surfaced the net today, revealing interesting tidbits on the game, mostly on the World Tour mode.
French site Jeux Video reveals details on how World Tour mode is set. It says that it’s setup is made up like a board game, in a similar way of how Virtua Tennis works. Each represents an event in where you will have to race or face a challenge, to earn bronce, silver and gold stars. You will only need bronze medals to advance to the next square, but if you want to unlock hidden squares who contains locked tracks and characters you need to achieve a certain number of gold or silver stars.
The biggest piece of Sonic & All Transformed-Stars Racing is in World Tour mode , inspired other productions as SEGA Virtua Tennis. This mode is represented in the form of a board game where the boxes represent different races containing many challenges with three medals specific to the key. To move to the next step, only the bronze is required. But to unlock boxes with special challenges unlocks characters and bossfights , silver and gold are essential. Difficulty varies depending on the objectives to be accomplished : finishing third, second or first, beating a rival with a lead more or less, make the most possible slippage or finish the race with a countdown by crossing checkpoints to repel.
GamesRadar also informs that there will be coins that you will earn while racing. You can spend those coins in a retro sega styled slot machine, in where you can unlock mods and permanent bonus for four vehicle.
The title has twenty characters each with their own system of record, plus two guest stars on which additional SEGA should not delay to communicate. Each character has its own dipstick XP fills that any participation , regardless of experience gained bonus based on results. A level-up is accompanied by the release of specific content, such as new settings (mixed driving, speed privileged improved adhesion, etc..) and various items for customizing the vehicle. Do not drive with a single entity has its advantages. Before each race, the coins collected in the previous sections can be used in a jackpot to activate a permanent bonus (turbos longer, less violent harm, and so on). But beware, the parts are shared and the savings back quickly when there are four of them!
Spanish site Vandal also reports that there will be three difficulty levels, shown as 50 cc, 100 cc and 150 cc categories. Also that the PC version will not have a physical release in Europe this time.
Another Spanish site, Viciojuegos says that Wii U Special edition will have different content than other platforms limited or bonus edition, as the regular Wii U version will contain Metal Sonic and Out Run Track, no matter if it’s limited edition or not.
Last, but not least, Eurogamer reported that Wii U version will not support voice chat. As Steve Lycett said, this is a side effect of being a launch title, and that 360 and PS3 uses will not have the same problem, as their versions will support voice chat.
In all of those previews, and several others, there is pointed that the game will have 23 characters, including Danica Patrick and Ralph.
Oh well, I hear the Wii U’s voice chat feature is implemented strangely, so maybe that’s the reason. And no news on the portable versions? Darn…
“The regular Wii U version will contain Metal Sonic and Out Run Track, no matter if it’s limited edition or not.”

Well this is kind-of a slap in the face. I pre-ordered the game pretty much the very moment I was able to, and I come to find that the super-special bonuses that I’m getting are just basic features in the Wii-U version? What a load of BULL! I had better get some extra extras!
@Ninetails
You pre-ordered the Wii U version? I’m pretty sure the limited edition has some extra stuff. Otherwise it wouldn’t be, you know, limited edition.
I wonder what the content in the Wii U limited version will be.
So what’s the difference between Wii U Special and Limited? I want to know so I can know which one to pre order.
Ohhh, nvm, there is no Wii U limited edition, just Special and Regular.
Did the original ASR have voice chat?
And the PS Vita version is still feeling sad because nobody is mentioning it. 🙁
@Darkgomugomu On the hd consoles. The wii did not (considering only a single game used wii speak).
@DGG
I want to know the same thing, I like talking smack while playing racing games 😀
23 characters? So…what we have now, is all we get, meaning MeeMee was the last character revealed? Weird. Hell, even the first game had more characters.
I pre-ordered the game because, well, I love racing games and Sonic, and All-Stars Racing was the most fun I’ve had this generation only seconded to Skyrim and a few others. I really don’t care about the extra crap, in fact, I wish it came with the regular editions. I hate pre-order bonuses/launch DLC.
IceHedge is a strange person O.o
Heh, I was planning on getting the WIi U version anyway, but this is icing on the cake.
I don’t speak when I’m playing video games either, so no voice chat is something I don’t mind. (Heck, I have voice chat always turned off on the 360 anyway.)
I have my own issues with pre-order bonuses and launch DLC myself, so I wouldn’t consider IceHedge a strange person. The former is destructive to video game distributors as it promotes monopolization (Sonic Generations’s Casino Night DLC is an example–it was only available via Gamestop), and the latter is a sign that a developer wants to wring more money than it needs (the fact that Metal Sonic and the Outrun track can fit comfortably on the Wii U version without an extra charge is rather unfair to the people getting the versions where it’s exclusive to some players).
I might of misread his post, but he made it sound like he rather not have Metal Sonic.
Oh, I read it to mean, “I don’t like that they have to add in extra things.”
