Sega’s Big Plan: Dreamcast Rebate / Price Drop
Sega released the details, and here they are:
- June 4-August 31: DC buyers will be eligible for a $50 rebate. To do this, you have to get online and register for Sega.Com, either via a one month trial service of the ISP through your own.
- The $200 rebate of signing up for Sega.Com/SegaNet will still be available even if you take advantage of this
- Canadians, take note of this-you will be eligible for a $100 CDN rebate if you take advantage of the register for Sega.Com.
What does this mean? Essentially, Sega is offering the Dreamcast for $149 USD/$199 CDN, in a sense. Another quick note–the online gaming service SegaNet will be rolled out soon after the Sega.Com launch. Great news and an agressive move by Sega considering the PS2’s $299 price point, at least.
