Sega to Hold Conference Tomorrow on DC Internet Plans
Per Seganet:
…Sega of America announced that they will be holding a live teleconference this Wednesday to unveil their Dreamcast Internet strategy as well as announce a partnership with a major online player.
As many of you know, the American Dreamcast comes packed in with a 56K modem, offering Internet capabilities straight out of the box, as well as the potential for networked gaming. So far Internet browsing with Dreamcast has been a given, but online gaming has remained cloudy. The information will hopefully clarify just what exactly Sega hopes to do with the online gaming components of Dreamcast in the western world.
Since the release states that Bernie Stolar and “a top executive from a corporate partner” will be speaking at the conference, there’s a strong chance that Sega has signed a deal with a nationwide ISP to offer Internet services to Dreamcast users.
Check back tomorrow @ the Sonic Scene to find out what happened.
UPDATE: Gamespot has leaked some info about AT&T being that partner, but they have been known to give out false info, so I will wait for the official word.
