SEGA To Acquire Troubled JRPG Giant Atlus?
For those who have not heard, Atlus (creators of the fantastic Persona series) is being put up for sale due to its parent company going under. For many JRPG fans, this is a huge concern as Atlus have created some of the best RPGs outside of Square-Enix. With their deep storylines and sometimes controversial topics, Atlus is certainly a company to keep an eye on.
And with the fact that they and their parent company are up for sale, it has sparked a lot of interest. And I mean a lot. About 20 companies are reportedly looking at buying Atlus, one of which is SEGA. They are one of the more well-known companies rumoured to acquire the Shin Megami Tensei creators, along with Nintendo and Sony.
This is good news for fans of Atlus – if so many companies are interested, then it means that they are worth keeping around. Whether they will be owned by Nintendo, SEGA or Sony, we don’t know as yet. We’ll let you know is SEGA (or anyone else) do indeed make an offer.
