Sega, Electronic Arts Still at Odds
Forbes.com talked to Electronic Arts about their plans for the future, and, of course, EA went and dissed Sega…again:
An article at Forbes.com details Electronic Arts’ plans for the future, including an estimated $400 million in expenditures for PS2 development. Of course, it seems that nary a penny has gone towards Dreamcast gaming from the once great Sega supporter (well, officially, at least), and according to the article, many critics believe EA could have boosted sales for the first and second quarters of this year had they taken the Dreamcast development plunge long ago.
Sega of America’s recently appointed commander in chief Peter Moore decided to voice his opinion on this matter, offering up, They would never admit it, but I’m sure they regret the decision now that the numbers are out.
John Riccitiello, EA’s chief operating officer seems to view things differently, stating, The dollar we spend on a Dreamcast is a dollar we don’t have for our online PlayStation strategy. Some critics apparently question this reasoning, speculating that Sony may have had something to do with EA’s decision, but EA rejects that entirely.
