Sega Confirms Sonic 2 Remastered, ASRT Mobile for End of Year
Of the four titles Sega has planned for mobile in a few short months, the company confirmed today that the Christian Whitehead and Simon Thomley remastered Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and a portable version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be among them.
News of Sonic 2 remastered has been a long time coming for anxious veteran Sonic fans who support the efforts Whitehead and Thomley, known respectively as The Taxman and Stealth, to properly update the classic games for a new generation. As before, updated graphics in 60fps will decorate the update on iOS, and the new game for Android users. The game should be available next month.
Both iOS and Android users alike can also get their hands on Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which should release shortly after Sonic 2 Remastered. Sega’s official press release only states a Winter release, but a Touch Arcade article suggests ASRT for mobile will release in December. Four player online and local races will be supported, and the game will see a retooled World Tour mode for single players looking for a quick race.
The other two mobile Sega games planned for Winter are Demon Tribe and Rhythm Thief & the Paris Caper.
