[Rumor] Sonic Mania Getting Physical Copies

For those that are planning to buy Sonic Mania but are not keen to the idea of using online services to download it, you may be in luck. Recently Sonic Mania has been rumored to get a physical release for at least the Nintendo Switch version, according to reports from EB Games Australia. The game is “expected to get a physical release at this stage”, claims the official Twitter account. Furthermore, a Twitter user by the name of Adrian (@SuperAj3) posted an image of mock up Nintendo Switch cases for Sonic Mania, and when asking behind the counter about the game, they claim that the game is in the database.

However, nothing from SEGA has been officially stated as of this writing. Additionally, it’s unknown if other versions like those found on the PS4 and Xbox One will also get a physical release, and whether or not the physical releases will be available in other regions such as European countries or North America.

That would be sweet! I want to buy the game on Switch anyway, since my collector’s edition pre-order is for PC.

Mania is a license to make money and get people to see quality coming from the Sonic brand if there is some kind of BS ideology at play that’s stopping a physical release I hope whoever is pushing it gets fired or at least told to back off. I know Mania even happening means Sega is loosening it’s grip on some of it’s stubborn mindsets but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of it still remains, I’d hate for Mania to get pigeonholed into just being a anniversary thing rather than the start of something

  And that matters to this story why? They aren’t going to say anything about it until late spring like they always do and probably only after Mania releases.

    Dude a few weeks ago they said they will get involved with the Nintendo switch event and they will get a announcement and later they said if not then all of us has to wait at the earliest in February they said. So yeah. Both sonic mania and project sonic 2017 announcement are important for everyone.

I hope it’s true because I’m planning on getting a sonic statue with it.

It’s probably too late to change it as that collectors edition has already been budgeted and changing it now would require a price hike.

I actually wouldn’t mind if the box art did look like that. Simple like the old ones 🙂

Since I’m getting the collector’s edition, I don’t mind either way, but it is always nice having something physical to proudly display on your shelf/cabinet/wherever you keep your games.
