PSO Website Update: New Information
The Sonic Team recently established a website for Phantasy Star Online, in English and Japanese, located here. Below is a synopsis of just what PSO is all about:
When we first started designing this online game,
we tried to come up with the best way for people to communicate and interact with each other. We decided to create an online game
based on the world of Sega’s legendary RPG series Phantasy Star.
That was the moment that the concept of Sega’s latest RPG, Phantasy Star Online, was born.
Sega has been trying to create the most exciting game world for players since the 8bit console Sega Mark 3/Sega Master System was introduced. Events, such as a dragon bursting out of the wall will thrill players when they travel in the Phantasy Star Online world.
The amazing adventure in a realistic 3D world, which Sega has not been able to achieve in the past Phantasy Star series, will be available on Dreamcast, Sega’s third generation console.
And guess what? The game is still scheduled for a 2000 release, according to the website! We have more information, this time about the Virtual Lobby, the place where PSO players will meet online:
The Virtual Lobby is the first place where players can go online. Players are looking for their teammates here.
At the Virtual Lobby, players can exchange items, talk to each other, and form a group.
In the meantime, check out the homepage, and you can find a ton of screenshots for PSO, plus the trailer for the game! We’ll try and get you some of them tomorrow, plus the story, characters, and the world behind PSO!
