"Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation" Coming West
When the Phantasy Star Online 2 anime series was announced, I saw jokes saying that we were more likely to get an English dub of the anime than hear any word from Sega of America on their eternally-delayed translated release of the Phantasy Star Online 2 game. Is it still a joke if it actually came true?
Sentai Filmworks has announced that they have licensed “Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation” as part of their 2016 anime lineup. No other details are really provided — nothing about voice actors, or any information about when or where the show will be released. However, given that the show has yet to air even in Japan, that’s understandable.
Sentai Filmworks mostly specializes in more niche anime series, including quite a few anime based on video games, so Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation is right up their alley. They also distribute several classic anime, like Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll. More recently, they are responsible for the dub of Parasyte currently airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami block.
We’ll keep you updated should a cast or anything be announced.
