Nintendo’s GameCube Revealed
Yes, I do feel you need to know this… SpaceWorld is being held right now in Japan, and Nintendo’s Game Cube, formerly Star Cube and Dolphin, have been revealed. Here are some quick details of what GC is capable of.
GameCube is capable of showing 6-12 million polygons a second. 24 megs of RAM are on board, and the Game Cube will carry a 56K modem. Also, Game Cube has its own proprietary disc format, these discs can carry 1.5 GB. The design itself is a cube. A really, really big cube. And, no, Game Cube will not play DVDs. There are four controller ports, an analog and a digital AV out, 2 serial ports and one parallel port. It appears that the controller might be wireless as well.
It would be released July of next year in Japan and October 2001 in the US and Europe. We’ll see how this impacts Sega’s plans to succeed.
