Night of the Werehog Unleashed
If you care to visit the Night of the Werehog website today you’ll notice that the trailer has been replaced by the actual film! It was released online today with little to no fanfare from Sega themselves which is fine as the quality of the animated short speaks for itself.
Actually it doesn’t speak at all. Characters in the film use Zelda-esque grunts, groans and exclamations but never speak a single word of English. The plot revolves around a haunted house featuring some strange ghosts each trying to out-scare the other. Sonic and Chip enter the house to escape the rain but end up being targeted as the ghosts newest victims. Can they survive this spooky game?
The short was premiered earlier today at Sega’s HQ in London and went down well with hardcore Sonic fans like myself as well as some of the crew from the Sonic Stadium. Take note Sega, you can make more animated shorts like this if you want, I don’t mind.
Oh, and expect to read more about what went down in London today very shortly. Some people got to play Sonic Unleashed for 360 early and somebody even won a PS3.
I don’t know if it has happened to anyone else, but, it starts over again near the end where sonic is fighting the bull-type-thing 🙁
i just watched it and i must say it was actually very amusing 🙂 SEGA should do stuff like this more often 😛
Its pretty cool, but, same as Nos is Lethal.
Okay, I found another site that had the video. I’m happy now =P. I can safely say that I enjoyed the movie. The two ghosts reminded me of two of the ghostly trio from Casper in a way…
by the way, heads up to anyone who can’t play the movie the whole way through. The movie is on http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7h95j_sonic-night-of-the-werehog-full-mov_videogames
is it just me, or is that girl ghost kinda hot? xD
Sonic:”Ooops…”
Lol, they never spoke but you could still tell who was voice-acting them. I love Chip’s voice :3
Now this is truly one of the best Sonic CG animations ever.
I liked it when Sonic scared Chip.
That ghost girl is beautiful and those two ghost guys remind me of Stretch and Fatso from Casper the Friendly Ghost.
I forget to say that the lack of voice acting was a smart choice, this animated short film relied on near silence and body gesture. The last CG animation I saw that was like that was WALL-E(my only favorite movie from Pixar).
This makes me miss the times when Sonic was a silent video game hero.
My only complaints about this is 1)Sega should have done this in time for Halloween and 2)Tails should have been in Chip’s place.
Beside that, I hope this lighthearted and cartoony direction for Sonic will crush all the “darkness” and “seriousness” that have been in the game series for a long time.
And the end with Chip was great, servers him right XD.
Naw, Tails being scared by the ghosts wouldn’t have been as good. They needed a silly character to be the victim and Chip fits right in there.
Paul Street: Are you sure? I can imagine that Tails being scared by those ghosts would have been just as funny as Chip was.
LOL Perfect! I like it alot. That ghost lady is messed up though, laughing at pics of people getting scared. To scare sonic, they should’ve turned into a pool of water.
Or Amy Rose ^_^
Robert, I was thinking more about how daft Chip is. Tails is supposed to be more mature these days.
That 10 minute short video was better than most of Sonic X.
