New Sonic Unleashed Website

Yesterday I mentioned the Sonic Unleashed hype getting up to speed. Today it breaks the sound barrier as Sega have unveiled a massive overhaul of the Sonic Unleashed website and it’s very pretty indeed! The US and UK websites are identical on first glance but while the music on the US site is “Endless Possibility” the UK version has some epic sounding event music that’s never been heard before.

After a brief loading screen that gives you time to notice that Bowling for Soup have managed to get a link to their website at the bottom of the page, the website opens up proper with a rotating 3D image of the world after being town apart by Dr Eggman! The globe can be rotated Google Earth style revealing the location of some countries flags. 8 levels appear to be on the map thus far revealing the proper names for 8 levels in the game.

Here is the rundown:

Greece becomes Apotos,

‘High Europe’ becomes Spagonia, a take on Italy.

China becomes Chun-Nan

The recently revealed Middle Eastern level is called Shamar.

Also on the map are Abadat that we’ve never seen,

Mazuri which could be the Africa level,

Empire City which looking at the flag is defiantly an American themed level

And Holoska is the ice level.

The different flags lead you to different parts of the website offering a look at screenshots, movies, concept art, character details (including badnicks), game info and more. The website is also literally split in two with a day and a night. Click on the sun and the moon to flick between the two. Rather obviously with the sun selected all the information is about Sonic and the daytime levels. Click on the moon and it’s about the Werehog and the night time levels.

Overall it looks like Sega have put in some hard work on the site and there’s plenty of scope for things to be added in the future with lots of areas blocked off with a ‘coming soon’ notice.

Should anything significant appear on the site you can count on TSSZ News to cover it and if you notice anything added before we do, leave us a news tip like sonicsmashkirby did to tell us about the website redesign in the fire place.

  8. Hey, is it just me who thinks that the UK music sounds one HECK of a lot like what Sonic whistles in that teaser trailer…?
    Which in turn sounds like Angel Island Zone?
    Maybe I’m wrong, but I’ve heard that music before.

    lol @ months ago I theorized that we’d get Austrailia and an Artic Pole world. Nice. Abadat…it’s hard to tell, but it’s either Austrailia or Brazil. More likely Brazil(since it’s confirmed), but the geography seems off.

  10. Soap Scum, I got two ‘news tips’ about the website but sonicsmashkirby was first. If you want to include a screen name you want the tips to be accredited to.
    The music in this game is fantastic, I like everything I’ve hard so far. It might not be to everyone’s taste but I really like it

  12. @ Paul Street: Agreed, this music is fantastic. I think I like the night music more.
    The game looks promising to me. Probably not classic…but enjoyable. I’m thinking it will be Rush/Rush Adventure quality.

  14. I love the music in this game… it feels like its captured that computer game music spirit that has been lost in games recently (except nintendo related products)
    its litterally in the background as I surf the net. Though Im worried they gave abit to much of it away before game. Its probably gonna hinder my overall experience of the final game lol.
    The website gives so much away its amazing.. they might as well just fling in the script and ending as well. Love it though.

  16. Sega better not mess this up. The franchise is riding on this game, I hope they take their time, and work out any kinks, because if they don’t, that’s what happened to Sonic 06. I don’t care if they delay it as much as Brawl, because that turned out to be Great! The more I see of this game, the more promising it is. One more month, and I’m so getting this game.

    They PROMISE this will be the GREATEST SONIC GAME EVER.

  19. @Tom: Honestly, I want to believe that, but seeing as Chronicles, a game from freakin’ Bioware, failed, I wouldn’t hold any hope of seeing a good Sonic game ever again…
    Sad to think that the franchise used to be one of those critically-acclaimed series which every gamer would drool over with each new installment… Now it’s as bad as Crash Bandicoot.
    Nowadays, instead of anticipating a new game, I’m anticipating Sonic’s death.

  22. What the crud are you talking about Kits? Do you just come here to talk bad about Sonic? Chronicles has been pretty much well received by a lot of people. No, Sonic is just dead to you.

  23. @ Lan: No, I’m not a troll. I keep coming back to see if SEGA is actually going to announce a Sonic game which doesn’t royally suck, because for some reason, I think that’s going to happen. If my expectations aren’t met, I take a chance and bitch about it. Oddly enough, optimists like you and the others do that, too. And it’s not just me who thinks that Sonic’s bit the dust, either. If you took the time to actually read something other than positive feedback, you’d know that.
    And just because Chronicles had some good reception doesn’t make it a good Sonic game by any means. Believe it or not, there ARE some who hated the game for one reason or another.
    @ SLJ: Yeah, in YOUR opinion. In my opinion, it, along with every other Sonic game after Rush Adventure, looked and sounded great, but played like ass. And I’m gonna ignore that Thomas comment. Just to save you the embarrassment.
    @ Crazee: You try growing up playing a game series which has constantly stabbed you in the back since 2003 and then see if you get excited about any new installments.
    Any more while I’m at it?

  24. Hey, Okami take a breather. I understand where you’re coming from. I still love Sonic, but Crash is another story, like you said.
    Sonic has many kinds of fans. You’ve got those who love every game that’s been released.
    You’ve got those who have mixed reactions with some, which I’m guessing you and I belong in that category. (I may not seem like it, but I had my criticisms about Sonic games. Game Gear anyone?)
    And there are those who hate all of them, but we really can’t call them fans, can we?
    I don’t want to argue with you, and to tell you the truth, I’d like to think we could be friends. Despite the negativity about Unleashed and Chronicles, you still seem like a good person.
    As for everyone else: WE ALL DISAGREE ON THINGS.
    If we agreed all the time, horrible websites like 4Chan could still exist.
    I don’t want to argue with you guys. We’re all Sonic fans here discussing about something we all like: Sonic. Whether it be old-school fans or new generation fans.
    And one more thing; Okami says he dislikes Nintendo. You should respect that as well. I’m a Nintendo Fan-Boy (Sorry ^^;), and I choose to ignore it. You guys shouldn’t let other people’s opinions bother you. It’s their decision. If you want their opinion’s to change so they agree with you, then you’re no better than a dictator, aren’t you?
    Do understand where I’m getting this from?

  25. Arguing or debate, it’s interesting to see other people’s point of view. Me, I like Chronicles. I haven’t finished it but it’s kept me happy through the most part. I’m having much fun running around with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman, forgetting about the other characters because they mostly suck.
    I also think Unleashed looks like it could be one of the best 3D Sonic games ever if the quality holds up in the levels we’ve not seen. It’s not like the Genesis Sonic games and does look like Sonic Rush with 3D bits. Rush and its sequel have been two of the better Sonic games of recent memory so if it takes that formula and evolves it I’m happy. I’ll just try and tolerate the Werehog bits which I’m still critical of.
    As much as I like to see diverse opinions though try not to take anyone’s comments too personally. After all, like it’s been said, we’re all fans but we’re all waiting for different things.

    I’ve an idea. Would it make anyone feel better if I just went along with the general conscience and rave optimisitically about Chronicles, Unleashed and Black Knight? ‘Cos I’m getting sick of insulting people on a regular basis because they seem to make me out as an ogre for silly reasons…

  39. not sure if u guys know but SU`s UK DATE IS NOV 7th! go to IGN and see! Also Wikipidias put that date up! This means only 3 WEEKS TO GO!!! (if its true! it has been on IGN for a while!)

  44. 99% of the glitches were easily avoidable. Only the loading was fact. Everythig else was opinionated lol
