Ice Cap WR Participants FINFIN, JMC Speak to TSSZ
Today, you will know just who–or what–Nekomimi is. But first, JMC from the UK has told me his tactics for getting into the Top Ten, as well as his thoughts on Nekomimi are (opinion, NOT fact, we’ll get to that later). Here were the questions posed:
1. What is Nekomimi? Is it a secret in the level, or is it a person that gave help as to achieving such high scores?
2. If it wasn’t Nekomimi that soared you to victory, what was it?
And here was JMC’s reply to me:
Nekomimi: I searched the internet for this and found a few Japanese sites. I can’t speak/read JP so I don’t know what they were on about, the only English words on the site were: “Windows 95/98,Windows CE”.
I heard that the Dreamcast’s operating system is Windows CE. If this is true then I suspect that “Nekomimi” is a PC program that allows you to change information in the VMU. (I don’t know if it’s possible to connect a PC to a DC/VMU,it’s just a theory)
I worked out that if you linked gates 5+6,got a x58 in the middle section and then linked the final 13 gates you would get a score of around 34/35000.That’s why I think the guy who finished no. 1 cheated. Then again, maybe if you get a score of 34000 you are awarded a bonus of 15000pts. Who knows?
I got my score of 25830 by linking gates 5+6,getting x58 in the middle section. I found out how to link the last 13 gates 7 hours before the WR closed but I just couldn’t do it in time. If I had a couple of extra days practice I think that I could have beat the guy in 2nd place.
Now, the truth about Nekomimi from FINFIN, winner of the World Rankings, and his tactics for victory:
I reply to your question:
1
Nekomimi is in Japanese BBS.
He notes how to get high score.
HE is the first place in Japanese rankings.
2
I scored 29000 and I was the the first place. But, I was out stripped.
I played slowly and carefully
if I can find more gate or the like.
And I became aware of the repeat of
the jumping board.
There’s the truth about Nekomimi. But this brings more questions: If Nekomimi is in first for the Japanese rankings, why would he not compete in the World Rankings? Does the timing of all the ramps play a major role in victory? (At least one does if you plan to get a 50+ hit combo.) Are there more gates than we think there are in this level? We might get more information later this week, but I seriously doubt these questions will be answered clearly.
