Harding to Charge for Game Remixes?
Now, when you go to TSC’s main site, a much different idea is planned. He will still open a website for his musical works, at a time which is yet to be determined, but there is now nothing which says he will charge for the music. Keep in mind that this idea is still forming, so anything can change, and we believe this new website is a few weeks away.
7/3: Oddly enough, after MP3.com told Sonic Corner webmaster JD Harding that his remixes were illegal, he has brought up the idea of making a new website, and charging for listening of his music, which might be illegal also:
I’ve been going over ideas on how I can put my game music back online, and I believe I’ve come up with a solution. I can set up a new website with it’s own domain and URL, and upload my game remixes to it. However, since I don’t have the money to support another web site, the game remix site cannot be free, therefore the site will have to charge a small amount of money for people to get into the archive to download the MP3s. I think something like $2 – $4 (US currency) is a good amount. I need at least $80 a month to keep the site online. This might change, because I may come out with a website for my original music, and I figure I can combine my original music, and game music into one site. The original section will be free to view, but the game remixes and enhances section will have a monthly fee to access.
Again, a serious question is raised about the legality of this latest idea. Whether it will go through is yet to be seen, but we’ll keep you informed.
