UPDATE: First eBay Auctions to Benefit Dylan Cecil First Responders Online
In September, we told you about the drowning death of four year old Dylan Cecil, one of Sonic’s youngest fans. Dylan fell off a jetty while vacationing in August. He was buried in a Sonic casket, with friends and family adorning various Sonic themed attire during his funeral.
Since then, we and many other community sites have been in touch with Kevin Eva of Sonic Wrecks about organizing a fundraiser in memory of Dylan. Eva, in turn, has been in touch with Sega, and they have graciously provided some material to bid on via eBay.
Today, the first item up for bid, a Sonic Generations press kit, entered the marketplace. Bidding starts at £5, and the auction ends November 19th. The kit was provided by Sega, but there may be other items personally donated by community leaders also going on the block. UPDATE: The second item donated by Sega of America, a Sonic Generations collectible gold ring, just went online. Bidding begins at 99p.
The Cecil family has asked that all proceeds in these and subsequent auctions go toward the Burnham Area Rescue Boat rescue charity. The hovercraft and many crew was used to search for and recover Dylan’s body. An earlier fundraiser held in Burnham on September 29th in memory of Dylan raised over $5,800.
We will let you know all the auctions to benefit this effort as they are activated.
