E3 2000: First SA2 Impressions
Sometimes it’s nice to have several opinions on one thing, sometimes it’s not. This is one of the good times. From Sega Otaku:
None of us really knew that Sonic Adventure 2 would be shown here at E3. Last night, we learned that it would, but in what form? Pictures? Video? Well, now we know.
Sega showed us the first trailer for Sonic Adventure 2, and it looks simply breathtaking. Unfortunately, at this time Sega would not let us record, so we don’t have any video of the game. We’ll see if we can’t get some sooner or later though.
The trailer started out with the Sonic Team logo and those little chimes. We all knew what was coming. A few seconds later, we see Sonic’s blue face and cheer. Then we see quick snippets of gameplay footage. From the looks of things, the game will run at a solid 60 frames per second this time, unlike its predecessor. Also, the graphics look much-improved, with a lot more being displayed on screen.
As the demo went on, we saw Sonic speeding through Aztec tunnels, lush jungles, and even crowded city streets while being chased by a truck no less. As the 4-minute demo went on, things just got cooler and cooler. I can’t wait until Sega lets us take some videos, so you all can see for yourselves the amazing footage that we have seen.
We are expecting more SA 2 coverage to flow in tomorrow, come back to see if that happens.
