The Much-Anticipated new Dreamcast game console will be launched through out Australia in nine weeks. The system, which Japanese game producer Sega aims to get back in the business, already has been released in Japan.
Claimed to be one of the most technological advanced consoles yet built, the internet allied Dreamcast Aims to offer consumers the next level in home entertainment, and it’s in-built modem allows consumers to browse the world wide web, Send and receive e-mail and play online games against people all across Australia and New Zealand.
Featuring a 128-bit CPU and Dedicated Power VR 3D graphics engine, he machine can generate 3D worlds in excess of 30 times more detailed than other games consoles today, Sega Tips. It’s high-resolution visuals running at smooth 60 frames per second put the Dreamcast in front of the latest high-end PCs, which cost many thousands of dollars, in term or raw 3D performance. Added to this is the console’s Plug and Play Internet functions via an in-built 33.6kbps modem, making the Dreamcast the next step in home video entertainment.
Sega Europe were reported to be encouraging developers to include a 60Mhz option in their software for Dreamcast, a move that will be greatly welcomed by PAL Dreamcast owners in Australia and New Zealand. The Inclusion of a 60Mhz option will allow PAL gamers with a 60Mhz compatible Television to play their games non-cropped (without those black borders at the top and bottom of the screen) and at full speed. Although the 50Mhz PAL option will remain the default video setting in all European Dreamcast releases, those Dreamcast owners with 60Mhz televisions (a great many TVs today support 60Mhz as standard) will be able to enjoy this option in their games. Sega is believed to have sold 65,000 Dreamcast Machines in the Four days following the system’s June 24 price drop.
