Catching Up with Streets of Rage 4
Last year, we went hands-on with Streets of Rage 4, the hotly-anticipated return of SEGA’s beloved beat-’em-up franchise, and spoke to some of the developers about what it takes to bring such a storied franchise back into the public eye. The game is a collaborate effort between three studios – Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu – and seeks to recapture the satisfying, addictive gameplay of its predecessors while updating the franchise for a more modern era. Originally announced back in August of 2018, development has steadily progressed, and Dotemu recently released an update video detailing the process behind bringing the game’s unique art style to life. If you’re curious about peeling back the curtain a bit and seeing how this game is coming along, you’ll want to check this update out.
We’ll get a fresh look at the game at PAX East next week. In the meantime, check out the videos below to see how the game is progressing, and check out Dotemu’s YouTube channel for more. Streets of Rage 4 launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC later this year.
Still looking good so far.
