“Sonic Runners” teased at Joypolis event in Japan
“Sonic Runners” is coming. That’s what an article over at Famitsu says. This morning, Sega reportedly held a “Sonic Fan Thanksgiving” event at one of their Joypolis amusement parks. At the event was one Takashi Iizuka, who revealed that Sonic Team’s next project is indeed “Sonic Runners“, and as deduced earlier, it’s a mobile phone game.

Not counting their co-production credits on Sonic 4, this could mark the first time Sonic Team themselves have ever done a mobile game.
Absolutely nothing was revealed about the game; we don’t know what it looks like, we don’t know what it plays like, and there wasn’t even a formal logo on hand. All a machine translation of the page offers are these additional tidbits:
The first in the world in the preceding delivery schedule in Japan, more information, such as the contents of it to be sequentially published since January 2015. Stay tuned for further news!
In other words: the game will launch in Japan next year, and more information will be available some time in January. The Famitsu article promises a full write-up of the Joypolis event soon, but whether or not that will contain more information about Sonic Runners is not currently known.
We’ll keep you posted, as always.
