M&S 2012 Olympics Pulled from Summer of Sonic
A laundry list of new details was posted today on the Summer of Sonic website today regarding what to expect come Saturday. There will be, among other things, several pieces of Sonic swag on sale, including the series of T-shirts produced by Insert Coin. Another revealed included the prize for the cosplay contest: a Sonic 20th Anniversary statue.
But the big change, while in the grand scheme of things not all that bad, may be a disappointment if you were looking forward to playing Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. After a morning meeting between SOS organizers and Sega Europe, the game will no longer be part of the fan convention.
“We do say things are subject to change, hopefully this will be the only item that does,” said SOS co-organizer Kevin Eva on the matter, not elaborating more on why M&S 2012 Olympics was cut at the last minute. Eva says he’ll replace one of the two planned kiosks for it with a copy of Sonic Gems Collection.
Still, for many, this will be a very insignificant change. Sonic Generations will still be there, as will all previously announced special guests. If you can’t be there, we hope you’ll be here. We have a correspondent going to the big show, and we’ll offer coverage throughout the weekend here at TSSZ.
