WORLD EXCLUSIVE – Sonic Colours Cutscene: “Tails & The Translator”

One of the things that have been bubbling away in forums up and down the community is of course the subject of THE VOICES and another is THE SCRIPT. Ever since I announced the fact Roger Craig Smith was taking over as the voice of Sonic people have been clamouring to hear anything that might give them some clue as to what this new Sonic might be like this. This even extended to people ripping apart the Radio Redux bumpers for some Alton Towers lines – gee, talking about smacking of desperation (amongst other things) people!

For a while now I’ve been working away on a few things here and there for future community exclusives and now today you can see one of them in action which should answer your questions about the voices of Sonic and Tails and also give you a first real look at the story element.  This video is a joint Community exclusive for the “Big Three” Sonic Wrecks, Sonic Stadium and Sonic Retro and was specially approved by SOJ and Sonic Team for us to reveal, so our thanks to them for helping to support us with this first look at the Sonic Colours/Colors story.

This is the fourth cutscene in the game, they don’t really have names for the cutscenes (at least not that we’re aware of) so we’ve given it the subtitle of “Tails & The Translator”.  If you’ve paid any attention to the ‘Seven Things…’ blogs over on the Sonic City Blognik you’re likely to deduce this shows a few of the things hinted at/revealed in action.

Naturally enough video may contain spoilers.

Once again thanks to SEGA and also Scarred Sun and Dreadknux for their quick agreement to having this joint exclusive. We may very well be working closer with both these guys in the future to provide further three-pronged assaults. Wait and see.

  1. You’re so awesome, AAUK! Thanks for doing this and pass on my thanks to SOJ, too. Tails is perfect and so is Sonic, though the latter will take some getting used to. I love the comedy and 4th wall breaking. I’m so happy 😀

  3. I, for example, belong to those people who liked Ryan Drummond and JGriff better. But I guess I’ll have to get used to Smith’s voice…

  4. I love this! Sonic Team is finally starting to understand that part of what makes Sonic so loveable is that he’s allowed to be silly sometimes. We don’t need everything to be super-duper epic and serious (I’m looking at YOU, Sonic 06) all the time. Sonic is a whimsical character in a colorful, creative world. Also, Tails seems to have programmed that translator with BabelFish.

    Nice name, btw.
Really, I would have thought even just looking from the screenshot that HE USES GOOGLE TRANSLATE.
Fun fact on that note: Me and my friends tend to translate from English to Japanese and back again to see the results. I wonder what would happen if I did that to the entire transcript here :3

You think so? I just took a look, and I’d say that Tails finally sounds like what he is, a young (academic) boy!
