SEGA Teaser Reveals Modern AND Classic Sonic… TOGETHER!

Well we’ve hit the allotted hour and what has occurred?

SEGA have officially kicked off their Anniversary doings on the Sonic Facebook page, and we’ve a new game on the horizon in the form of what is we have to assume is the Anniversary title – most likely “Sonic Generations“.

The actual name itself has not yet been revealed, however SEGA have released a sub-1 min teaser showing modern Sonic running through what is undoubtedly a modern-variation on Green Hill Zone, only to be joined by a fully 3D visualisation of the plump younger Classic Sonic. Black eyes fully intact.

The pair then acknowledge each other before sprinting towards the camera. Check it out below.

The legal line/end-slate which give a very loose 2011 date reveals that whatever game this is, it will be coming to at least the 360 and PS3 – interestingly the legal line also includes ownership details of the Kinect trademark despite the fact the kinect logo isn’t actually visible, there is no mention of Playstation Move in comparison.

  1. Very excited about this new Sonic game (as always) and intrigued by the mostly white scenery. Was expecting Sonic to leave de Blob-like splashes of paint everywhere! Can’t wait to see more.

  4. Oh man…how we’ve all been waiting for this day to come.
The best of the best, both ways!
And that Green Hill Zone in grayscale? I can theorise that it represents that Sega are indeed still working on it, and that they’re going to get it right no matter what.

    • Of course they’re not going to be working on it much longer, are they? If you really want it to be worked on some more, then it shouldn’t be released until next year or in two years at least. In which case, it wouldn’t be the anniversary game.

Though even after then it’s not going to be gotten ‘right’ unless the team behind it is a fangroup producing it in 2D. You can spend any amount of time on any project, but unless you have exactly the right people it’s still not going to be any good.
