Comics – 052: Tratitor’s Gate

COMIC NOTES
  • ‘Traitor’s Gate’ was completed 28/11/06.
  • The title is named after the river gate of the same name that leads into/out of the Tower of London
  • By now the virus had taken over the entire site and despite attempts to cleanse it, it was only a matter of time before Metal beame victorious.
  • The codebreakers had finally been beaten by a deviously encoded message that to this day has yet to be decyphered.
  • Losers.
  • SW HQ looks suspiciously like Dr Wily’s old hideout.
  • SW needs more groupies. Fact.
  • ‘Deathblossom mode’ is from the movie The Last Starfighter.
  • It had long been rumoured since the ‘there is a traitor’ message in the previous comic that such a traitor would revealed to be Echo (Echo Hawk). As it turns our the ‘heel turn’ had been planned for months prior to the rumours starting.
  • Hawk’s comments about looking like Falco Lombardi’s grandfather is an in-joke as Hawk’s ‘hawk’ form is a recolour of a Falco sprite.
  • Hawk’s ‘true’ hog form has been seen once before in ‘Sudden Death Amok Time’.
  • ‘By your command-‘ is a reference to the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica.
  • Benadict Arnold is of course Amercican slang for traitor, named after the man of the same name who plotted in 1780 to betray West Point to the British forces during the American War of Independance.
  • "Mercy, mercy, mercy me-oh!" Is a line from the song Boom! Shake The Room by Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince.
  • The line about chimneys is from the song ‘Feel It’ by Tamperer (Vs Maya)
  • The original comic featured on the front (and solely functioning) page, below the trunkated disclaimer being the self-destruct mechanism. This slowly located the digits to fulfill the sequence which was revealed to be 0912-2006 or December 9th 2006.
  • On this day the site finally went offline as explosions and fire reigned all over the front of the site.
  • There is another Matrixreference, this time to Morpheus’s infamous ‘red pill, blue pill’ speech.
  • The extreme accupuncture refering to the scene where Neo’s body is covered in long needles.
  • The remarks about dogs and a stylus is a nod to NintenDogs.
